Dear readers,
Hope my new post reaches you in good health.
I have finished a novel “The Forty Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak over a year ago. But I still visit this book every now and then to sort of taking refuge in those precious words (that speak the truth and heal) – I have decided to recite (in words) each rule in a separate post.
In this post, we shall see the second rule of Love:
The path to the Truth is a labor of the heart, not of the head. Make your heart your primary guide! Not your mind. Meet, challenge, and ultimately prevail over your nafs* with your heart. Knowing yourself will lead you to the knowledge of God.
*nafs = False Ego
I think this rule very well resonates most of you as you all write directly from your heart. When you do something from your heart, there is a flow – you are neither judge yourself nor afraid of being judged.
The second rule invites us to meet, challenge and win over our false ego (i.e., forgotten state of mind believing in ideas that separate one another). Being mindful of our innate thoughts is probably the first step – only then we shall meet our false ego, without which, it may be impossible to recognize our false ego.
Lastly, the second rule also reiterates the first rule. When we know ourselves, we know the Source of Everything a.k.a. God.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Yes, it is true: Being mindful of our innate thoughts is probably the first step – only then we shall meet our false ego, without which, it may be impossible to recognize our false ego. Once we find our false ego, we could pass it gradually. It is a hard step, but the most important step. As we take that step, in the beginning, we may feel strong resistance within us. At that time, taking few deep breaths help us to be silent. With practice, it is possible and we can face many things in life with a smile on face and peace in heart. Blessed moments ahead dear Velu 🙂

Wow, this is an amazing suggestion for many of us – staying with the rhythm of our breaths help us becoming calm! Thank you so much and wish you a wonderful weekend 🙂
